Our Heritage
Chris Morrison’s ancestry lies behind the Lewis Tucker name. Its lineage is no different to that of hundreds of New Zealand pioneering families who came to New Zealand in search of a better life.
Clan Morrison is of Nordic descent; people who settled on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides in the 1300’s.
Chris’s great grandfather, James Morrison, arrived in Wellington aboard the Durham from Glasgow in 1873, aged one year. Like many clansmen, James’s family left the Isle of Lewis, initially settling in Glasgow before sailing for the New World.
Edward Tucker, Chris’s great, great, great grandfather arrived in New Plymouth from England with his family aboard the William Bryan in 1841. Edward’s son Richard established W. Tucker Ltd, wool scourers of Clive, Hawkes Bay. W. Tucker Ltd stayed in the Tucker family until 1998 after 125 years of wool scouring. The Tucker name has a long established history in the New Zealand wool industry.
